Programme Goals And Objectives

Overall Goal: To enhance local capacity for healing, reconciliation and peace-building in communities deeply affected by violent conflict.

Component #1: Training for Healing, Reconciliation and peace-Building

Goal: To equip local communities with a vision, knowledge, skills and organisational set-up required for sustainable action for healing, reconciliation and peace-building.

Component #2: Counselling Service for Suffers of Trauma and / or HIV / AIDS

Goal: To ensure that growing numbers of local churches set up counselling and other care-taking services for trauma or/and HIV/AIDS sufferers in their own communities.

Component #3: Consolidating the Fruits of Healing and Reconciliation through Unity Groups

Goal: To build the operational capacity of Unity Groups to plan, implement and sustain their social, cultural and economic activities based on the spirit of unity and reconciliation.

Component #4: Support to the Community-Centred process of Reintegrating Released Prisoners

Goal: To make a positive contribution to the community-centred process of genocide prisoners’ reintegration.

Component #5: Peace Education for Children

Goal: To ensure that increasing numbers of children in our target areas have access to educational opportunities that promote peace, tolerance, reconciliation and human rights.

Component #6: The School for Peace-Building and Conflict Transformation

Goal: To develop a human resource base of peace-builders with the knowledge, skills and qualifications required for facilitating effective action and movement towards peace and reconciliation at different levels of society in Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
